With the country still in recession, the unpredictability  and hassle of air travel, and the weakened pound meaning that holidays to our favourite destinations are now far more expensive, thousands of British holiday makers are expected to take a “staycation” this year, making the most of the great outdoors to go camping or caravanning.

Retailers of outdoor and camping products are saying that sales on tents, camping, caravanning and outdoor equipment are double that from last year. The camping and caravan club have received bookings for their sites in the UK that are already 16% up on last year. This continue with the trend from 2009 when bookings rose by 27% for camping and caravan pitches.

On top of that Positive Weather Solutions have predicted a weather breaking summer with exceptionally high temperatures forecast for the months of June, July and August. Unlike the Met Office who famously forecasted a sweltering summer last year, Positive Weather Solutions have a much better record for their predications.
