||Hot on the heels of Mick Jagger's assertion that his family will be camping during Glastonbury, comes the news that pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor is the latest celeb to join the camping converts.
The star of tracks like "If This Ain't Love" and "Murder on the Dancefloor" is a mother of three, and joined thousands of other family campers last weekend and went on their first camping trip. An experience the signer described as "magical".
"We survived! Family camping trip a success. Sun shone and kids got filthy running about in the woods all day," Ellis-Bextor wrote on Twitter.
“Family camping allows parents the opportunity to enjoy fun, quality time with their children – providing freedom to explore a different environment together and for the family to learn vital life skills through play and close-to-nature adventures."
“Our children are nine, four and one so I think it's quite a magical thing to do with your parents – especially for my eldest two.”
The singer who has a total of nine Top 40 hits, did plenty of research on choosing her equipment before heading off on their trip and chose to reject the luxury "glamping" and settling on a traditional six person tent.
“With a number of festivals to go to throughout the year, Sophie and her family will have plenty of opportunities to test out the new gear and get used to the laid back outdoor lifestyle," said camping specialist Michael Cloake, who had advised Ellis-Bextor on her equipment requirements.
